Because we realize that individuals are unique, particularly in the way they learn, a training workshop must use a variety of learning approaches in order to accommodate these differences.
Learning does not mean information being “instilled” into people through provision of facts – it emerges from their own experience. For this reason, participation is key to effectiveness.
For example, the passive format of lectures is the least effective means of training for either Customer Service Representatives or Cash Officers – there must be interaction, and the more active these participants are during training, the more effective their learning. For this reason, our “trainers” are actually “facilitators” who enable active learning through role plays, case studies, participatory sessions and other methodologies. These techniques form a crucial feature of our workshops.
Learning is most effective when the objectives have relevance and meaning for the participants in terms of their own lives, what they already know, as well as their personal goals. For this reason, we emphasise and try to form groups that will have common goals and are able to learn from each other.
